This is a recipe that I acquired upon my arrival to my first-ever Bible study. I was in college, and we met at one of the leaders’ homes. We would sit around the coffee table… some of us in couches, some on the floor. It was cool and crisp outside and we were all wearing our college hooded sweatshirts. Leaves were changing and the fireplace roared. We all held mugs filled with the amazing scent of orange and cinnamon and cloves.
Can you smell it? Fall. It’s here.
And I have the most amazing recipe for fall’s Orange Spiced Tea to share with you.
Let it be known that I’m not a tea drinker. I’ve never been fond of the taste and frankly, I’m not a fan.
But THIS tea. Ohhhh this tea. This isn’t really “tea” per-se. It’s BLISS in a cup.
You’ll need a small container to hold this batch of mix. I use a Rubbermaid 1.5qt container with a good snap-in lid.
You ready for this?
1 3/4 cups of Tang mix 1 cup of Country Time Lemonade mix 1 cup of plain instant tea 2 cups of powdered sugar 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon 1/2 tsp of ground clovesMix all of this together thoroughly in a large bowl, then spoon into your storage container. Once you’ve got it properly stored, go ahead and heat up some hot water in your tea kettle. When the kettle starts howling, take two heaping spoonfuls of the Orange Spiced Tea mix and put it into your favorite mug (or add as much as you’d like to your taste). Add the hot water, give it a good stir, and take a drink.
Autumn bliss.
ENJOY!

I was introduced to spice tea this past winter and oh my cow it’s good! It’s very similar to this recipe except mine didn’t have powdered sugar…definitely gonna have to try it!!
Oh. You will LOVE it. The powdered sugar gives it a different kind of sweetness. SO yummy. It’s my favorite!
Our family recipe doesn’t use powdered sugar either, but I’m pretty sure it uses regular sweetened instant tea, so with the tang and the lemonade mix and sweetened instant tea there is no shortage of sugar! The cinnamon and cloves with the orange and hot tea make this recipe so mouth watering delicious and so scrumptiously perfect for fall!
Also, no idea why, but growing up, we always called it Russian Tea… one of these days I’m going to have to Google and see if there’s a good reason why…! For now, I should get off the couch (1st trimester fatigue, bug time) and pick up ingredients to mix up a batch- my kids will love this for a fall treat!
I can’t wait to try this one! I grew up with half instant tea & tang mix, but this one sounds wayyy more flavorful:)
Mmmm, I love trying new things. The ingredients in this sound so interesting, I can’t wait to try it! Thanks for sharing it!
Oh delish! I love fall drinks! Cider especially!
Um… definitely going to try this! I can smell it already! See you in 34 days!
Peaceful wishes,
Melissa
I am totally printing this off and making come. Thanks you
I wish had all of the ingredients to make this now! It’s is definitely time to break out the slippers and snuggle blankets here in MN. We even had the furnace turn on last night-brrrr!
Yep, with a slight variation this was also the “Russian Tea” my mother made during the holidays when I was a child. Tang isn’t as easy to find as it used to be, but I noticed it at Meijer last winter. This tea does smell divine, doesn’t it? Thanks for reminding us and providing your recipe!
Can’t wait to try it, I have saved it titled “Autumn Bliss Spiced Tea”. Love it!
See, you ARE a tea fan! You just have to find the right kind!!
I WISH I was a coffee fan. My husband roasts his own and apparently it’s bangin’! Such a waste that I don’t like it!! Maybe I ought to keep trying it til I am a fan?
Take care sweet girl!
